Healthcare Leader Spotlight Shines on Bridgecom CEO Joel Luce – March 27, 2019

When Mr. Luce first began his career at the company that is now Bridgecom, it was 1994 and things were a lot different.  The business had its roots in analog output services, having been originally incorporated in 1955.  In the mid-90s, the company evolved into a communications and technology company, during a period marked by dramatic expansion of digital content transformation, automation and software solution services.  Prior to taking over as CEO, Mr. Luce was a key member of the team, and assisted in developing some of the digital applications that Bridgecom is known for today. 

Twenty-five years later, Joel Luce is still finding ways to adapt, and ultimately, get results for clients.  Bridgecom offers health engagement software, BridgeSuite™ and has also distributed nearly 10 million in-home colorectal cancer kits to date.  Bridgecom’s model with in-home self-test kits is tailored to the patient and empowers that individual to take decisive action with their health while providing convenient access to accurate and private in-home testing kits.  Their patented packaging and process has shown to dramatically improve screening rates for colorectal cancer, which is the 2nd leading cause of cancer-related death in the country today.

Bridgecom and DST Health Receive PBMI Excellence Award As Service

for Innovative Member Communications – March 6, 2019                                           

Partners recognized for operational efficiency and cost improvements  

MIRA LOMA, California, March 6, 2019Bridgecom, a leader in Medicare/Medicaid member communications program fulfillment, today announced that the company and its business partner DST Health have received the Pharmacy Benefit Management Institute (PBMI) Excellence Award in the Quality Improvement Category. The award recognizes Bridgecom and DST Health for technology and workflow innovations that successfully improved Medicare Part D member communications and lowered program administration costs.

The award was presented last night at the PBMI’s 2019 National Conference in Palm Springs, California.

Partners since 2015, DST Health and Bridgecom have collaborated to enhance the Medicaid/Medicare member experience and outcomes, and reduce compliance risks and program administration costs. One challenge realized was that Medicare Part D members must submit a reimbursement request for pharmacy claims precluded from being processed at the point of sale. At the same time, the Centers of Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) requires that client plans notify members to explain if their pharmacy claim submissions are approved or denied and the reason for the denial.

DST Health’s Pharmacy Solutions had processed those claims through manual adjudication. Using process re-engineering, workflow software and a high-volume mail fulfillment platform, DST Health and Bridgecom together accomplished the following key performance indicators within a nine-month period in 2018:

  • Reduced postage by $29,000 per year
  • Reduced cycle time by 66 percent
  • Reduced mail volume by 31 percent
  • Eliminated costs and fees totaling $41,000 per year
  • Eliminated process steps, saving $10,000 per year

BridgeSuite™Health Engagement Software Helps Health Plans Retain Members

As New CMS Rule Takes Effect – December 11, 2018

MIRA LOMA, California, December 11th, 2018 – For the first time, Medicare Advantage (MA) members can elect to switch their selected plan to another MA plan or Original Medicare. Beginning with the 2019 open enrollment period (OEP), this new rule eliminates the existing disenrollment period, with the new OEP taking place from January 1st through March 31st. This applies equally to prescription drugs/Part D portion of the plan as well.

Medicare Advantage plans now risk member disenrollment for a much longer period, challenging them to build member loyalty programs, while educating members on their plan’s value. Bridgecom’s health engagement software, BridgeSuite™, helps plans manage critical communications with both new and existing members.

ABG Changes Name To Bridgecom As Service Offerings Continue to Grow

– August 15, 2018

MIRA LOMA, California, August 15th, 2018 – ABG Communications, a premier leader in healthcare communications, recently began operating under the name Bridgecom. For over 40 years, the company has partnered with clients in the healthcare insurance, corporate and Medicare industries, to provide streamlined solutions, delivering accurate, timely information using secure, multi-modal channels.

For CEO Joel Luce, the change comes more than ten years after acquiring the company back in 2007. “We knew that eventually, the name would be changing. This has been on the horizon for a long while.”  After the company’s founder passed away in early 2018, the timing seemed right to begin operations under a name that was more in line with the current and future direction of the company.

“Our services have grown and continue to expand as our clients’ needs change. The former name just doesn’t encompass who we are anymore,” Mr. Luce stated.  “We chose the name ‘Bridgecom’ because it expresses what we do: we bridge communication and care gaps that exist between healthcare organizations and their patients and members.”

The name change comes just a few months after an exciting software update to the company’s BridgeSuite™, Internet solution.  Said Luce, “It’s exciting, as our business has completely evolved over the last few decades. We are constantly adding and improving our service offerings in response to the needs seen in the market, to give healthcare clients exactly what they need to serve their patients and members.
